Additional Celebrations

In addition to official convocation and graduation ceremonies, there are other celebrations hosted by organizations, student groups and university units honoring graduating students in a number of ways, including special ceremonies, awards banquets and receptions. Those celebrations include:


Black Graduation

May 19, 2022 | 12 p.m. | Texas Union Ballroom 

Black Graduation is a big annual event that celebrates the achievements made by graduating students who identify as African and African American. The event is hosted by the Afrikan American Affairs student agency within the MEC.

Disability Graduation

May 18, 2022 | 1 - 3 p.m. | Student Services Building G1.106 (ground floor)

Join SSD and campus partners for UT’s Disability Graduation! We are excited to honor our graduates with disabilities and celebrate their accomplishment of earning a degree from UT! We know students with disabilities have often faced barriers during their time at UT and Disability Graduation is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate your persistence and achievements.

First-Gen Longhorns Graduation 

May 18, 2022 | 2 - 4 p.m. | San Jacinto Multipurpose Room

First-Generation Longhorns are a fundamental part of our campus, a strong and proud part of the Longhorn family. Join us in celebrating our graduates and their achievements! 


May 19, 2022 | 4 p.m. | San Jacinto Multipurpose Room

After a nine-year hiatus, GraduAsian was revived in 2021 from students’ desire to be recognized for their achievements. GraduAsian is a celebration held to commemorate the many achievements of UT’s graduating Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) students. 2022 GraduAsian is momentous, as it will be the first time celebrating APIDA students’ achievements in person.

Latinx Graduation

Hosted by the Latinx Community Affairs student agency within the MEC, Latinx Graduation  recognizes the accomplishments, successes and achievements of all the Latinx graduates.

Lavender Graduation

May 18, 2022 | 4 p.m. | Etter Harbin Alumni Center

Lavender Graduation is a time-honored celebration of the achievements made by students and alumni who are allies and members of the university’s LGBTQ+ community. Lavender Graduation is hosted by the Gender and Sexuality Center and co-sponsored by the UT Queer & Trans Students Alliance, the Pride and Equity Faculty Staff Association, the Pride Alumni Network and the Queer Graduate Student Alliance (QGSA). 

The Great Texas Exit

May 21, 2022 | 4 – 7 p.m. | Etter-Harbin Alumni Center, 2110 San Jacinto (across from stadium)

Kick off graduation weekend at the Great Texas Exit, a casual, Texas-sized celebration hosted by the Texas Exes. Join us from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, May 21.Pick up your commemorative graduation items, available while supplies last. We will have photo opportunities available for all grads! Purchase your Life Membership by graduation and you’ll have the opportunity to take a photo with BEVO from 5:15 - 6:15 p.m.! We’ll have staff available to help you purchase a Texas Exes Life Membership on site.
